Mystic, Conn.-- The Mystic Writer's Colony will host its second open mic night at Bank Square Books on Thursday, May 8.

Fee:  $5 for presenters, $2 for audience

Writers of all genres (including musicians,story tellers and artists) ages 13+ are welcome to share their work! Each reader/singer will be limited to 3 minutes (PG rated please).   Light refreshments served. The event will be limited to 50 attendees.

Jan L. Kardys and Jeanne E. Rogers, authors of YOU WROTE A BOOK, NOW WHAT? will offer a wealth of experience in this upcoming presentation. Their diverse knowledge will focus on the pros and cons of traditional publishing and self-publishing and what you need to do prior to following either course. The presentation will include researching your competition, preparing a manuscript for review by an editor, how to find the right agent for your book, creating an author platform, and much more.
 
Jan L. Kardys, originally of Groton, Connecticut, has more than 35 years in the publishing industry with such publishing houses as Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Warner Books, Little Brown & Company, just to name a few.
 
Jeanne E. Rogers, of Danbury, Connecticut, is an award winning self-published author who shares information about how and where to self-publish, what you need to do before self-publishing, and the best course to plot in order to successfully launch your book.
