Mondays, 4-5pm: Mystic & Noank Library Writers Group

Mystic & Noank Library Writers Group*
Informal writing group meets every Monday (except holidays) from 4 - 5 p.m. at the Mystic & Noank Library

This group is not a critiquing session but meant to release the creative writing juices as pen is put to paper (loosely following the Natalie Goldberg model).  Topics are generated by the attendees themselves and after a topic is drawn from a box, everyone writes for five minutes, brainstorming what comes to mind. Then everyone reads their lists, with no comments or criticisms given. Next they write for ten minutes, inspired by their own ideas or those offered by others. Again they read aloud what they’ve written. This is followed by a final five minutes to write and another round of reading aloud. Attendance is flexible. Some members have been coming regularly for years and others drop in when they can. The group usually meets in the conference room and though optional each attendee donates a dollar to the library.
